School Board
The Tohono O'odham Bureau of Indian Education School (TOBIES) acts as the school board for Tohono O'odham High School and all BIE schools in the Tohono O'odham Nation. The board governs a quality educational program to ensure TOHS students excel academically, socially and culturally. The board fosters a nurturing and inclusive environment for cultural preservation, community engagement and lifelong learning.
Our Mission
Our mission is to educate and empower students within a culture of academic excellence that meets or exceeds all state academic standards. Quality education is the cornerstone of Tohono O'odham's thriving community, and the school board is committed to providing the resources and guidance for optimal student success. The board oversees the policies and programs that support Tohono O’odham Nation's youth.
Budget Oversight: The board manages the allocation of resources, distributes funds efficiently, and provides diverse support systems for students and staff.
Community Engagement: The board engages with parents/guardians, families, community members, and other stakeholders to gather input and feedback to apply the most effective learning and teaching strategies.
Cultural Preservation: The board infuses Tohono O'odham culture and traditions into the educational program to create a holistic and enriching learning environment.
The board encourages the TOHS community to partner with Tohono O'odham High School by attending school board meetings, joining committees and contributing valuable input and insight to shape the future of our students.
